The Bed and Breakfast La Scalinatella, completely renovated in 2012, is located on the second floor of a seventeenth-century building in the heart of Rome's historic center, a short distance from the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, the Trajan Markets, the Vittoriano, and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
In the vicinity, you will find small restaurants, bistros, craft shops, classy boutiques, and a renowned jazz music school, which make the area particularly fascinating.
Although the building, like many historic buildings, does not have an elevator, the stairs are low, and we will always be available to help you with your luggage.
The atmosphere of our B&B is intimate and welcoming: we, the owners, live in the apartment and are at your disposal for any need or request. We will personally welcome you and take care of you, providing advice and making reservations for excursions, museums, exhibitions, concerts, theaters, and restaurants.
For safety reasons, smoking is not allowed inside the B&B La Scalinatella, but we have a small balcony where tobacco lovers can relax.
Each room has a private bathroom and is equipped with a safe, hairdryer, and free wireless internet connection.
The Municipality applies a tourist tax of 6.00 EUR per person per night, to be paid in cash. Children under 10 years old are exempt from this tax.
A paid garage is available a short distance from the property. However, if you arrive by car, please consider the opening hours of restricted traffic zones.
We have agreements with bars, restaurants, taxi companies, and a 24-hour private medical assistance service (at an additional cost). If you don't feel like going out, we can arrange a catering service for dinner directly in our lounge. Please feel free to contact us for further detailed information.
We accept payments with Visa Card, Mastercard, American Express, and PagoBancomat. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate pets.
A wide selection of breakfast delights is available at our accommodation. You can enjoy fresh fruit, refreshing fruit juices, creamy yogurt, butter and jam, delicious pastries, crispy toast, a variety of aromatic teas, Italian coffee or barley, and fresh milk. Additionally, upon request and with an additional charge, we are able to provide specific products for guests who suffer from celiac disease or diabetes.
Please note that, due to legal regulations, we will not be able to serve cooked foods on-site, such as bacon and eggs or homemade cakes. However, we encourage you to explore the numerous restaurants and cafes in the area to satisfy your culinary needs.
Dear visitors, on June 27, 2014, I celebrated my "half century" of life and, as the famous actress Anna Magnani said, "since it took me a lifetime to get wrinkles, why should I erase them now?" After all, I am in good company with illustrious women like Ferilli, Bellucci, Ferrari, Binoche, not to mention the splendid ladies over-fifty such as Sharon Stone, Susan Sarandon, or Julianne Moore.
Coming back to us, after many years working in Milan, I had the opportunity to change my life and I seized it. In hindsight, I can say that I am extremely happy I did.
Being a lover of hospitality, as typical of my zodiac sign (Cancer), and always willing to host friends and acquaintances (who sometimes take up a whole hand instead of just a finger!), I started thinking about turning these characteristics into a stimulating job.
It wasn't all easy and quick, finding a beautiful home in the center of Rome was challenging, but I believe I succeeded. In a year and a half, the feedback from guests has been overwhelmingly positive. Of course, there are also those few impossible clients, but thank God they are really rare.
It's a wonderful adventure, but also tiring. Fortunately, my sister Elisabetta gives me a precious hand.
In this photo, my hair is a bit messy. I shared it because I find it funny, even though I usually don't have such a serious expression!
Warm greetings to everyone and goodbye.
Annamaria and Elisabetta.
